Day 133

I’ve just watched ‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’.

What an incredible movie.

It reminds me of the beauty of creativity and collaboration. Two besties have come together to capture a tear-jerker of a story that feels like a pause to reality.

In my mind, that’s what art should do. It should make the viewer feel suspended in time while engrossed in something that’s hard to describe.

There is intentionality in everything this film does and represents, and I love that. I love the beauty of creativity, which has meaning and purpose and is easy to relate to.

Sometimes, we need to be entirely captured by another kind of story. We need to be invested in something other than our current reality, rooting for someone else’s development (even just a character in a movie).

There’s something humbling about being touched and moved in such a way by strangers’ creations. It reminds me that in a world where we’re often isolated by our devices and routines, art still has the power to break through those barriers and connect us at our most human level.

Perhaps this is why I create, too, not just to express myself, but in the hope that somewhere, someone might feel less alone in their own story because they encountered mine.
