I’m struggling to find my words today.
I’ve been haunted by news from America, turning over what it all means and where it’s heading. My ability to articulate myself carefully has been further compromised after watching (live) footage of President Cyril Ramaphosa and Donald Trump during their Oval Office meeting.
The forced power dynamics in that room are palpable and gravely concerning.
It’s unclear what will come from this meeting, but I can’t force myself to watch anymore today. Sometimes, the weight of witnessing requires a temporary retreat.
Perhaps tomorrow I can re-engage and stay informed about the world around me. But today, I acknowledge there is wisdom in stepping back when the political theatre becomes too distressing to process.
