Day 159

Oh, how I love women-led brands!

There are numerous businesses run by women that I’m particularly drawn to, and I love witnessing their journeys to greatness.

Of all my work experience to date, I’ve worked with only two businesses owned and run by women. Just two. I’m shocked by this realisation.

However, working for Amarachi at Lucocoa a few years before she sadly had to close her business was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. She’s an incredible woman, and I learned so much from her. As an activist in the sustainable chocolate industry, everything she stands for aligns with my values.

She gave that business her all, and it was incredibly successful. She won awards and was recognised for her business acumen. At every opportunity, she shared her journey, opening doors for other young women to follow.

As a woman trying to navigate the business world myself, I wish I had more brilliant women to look up to. Of course, there are countless thriving women-owned businesses out there. I just hope that someday soon, I get to meet these entrepreneurs, work alongside them, and learn from their wisdom.

I love being a woman, and I love the unique contribution we all make to this world. It’s distinctive and profound.

As I approach 35, I’m choosing love over the fear that tells me there isn’t room for another woman’s voice in business.

There is room.

There’s always room for more women to take centre stage, to build something meaningful, and to light the path for those coming behind us.
