Another one of my great loves in nature is the incredible, majestic mountains that surround me in Cape Town.
Of course, Table Mountain is revered and a huge attraction, but I’m not only talking about its fame. Driving through various areas in Cape Town, I’m always inspired by the intimacy I feel with these mountains.
Depending on the weather and time of day, the same mountains I always observe seem transformed. They offer different moods. One of my favourite versions is when the light dims, and the mountain surfaces turn blue and brooding.
They feel close enough to touch, and I absolutely love being distracted by their beauty.
I’ve had the privilege of exploring some of these mountains on foot, creating an intimate bond I only fully understand when I look up at them again from a distance.
The remarkable thing about my love for mountains is that when you reach their peaks, they reveal a thousand stories in the view they offer. There’s an entirely different dimension to the inspiration I feel up there.
But perhaps the most incredible gift these mountains offer isn’t just their beauty or the views from their summits—it’s how they teach me to be present.
Each day, they remind me that inspiration isn’t something we chase or manufacture; it’s something we notice, something we allow ourselves to receive.
In a world that moves so quickly, these ancient giants stand as witnesses to the power of simply being still enough to see what’s already there, waiting to move us.
