Day 202

The stories we tell ourselves about our lives become our lives.

I noticed something this week: I kept saying “I’m not good at starting my day early” and then… proving myself right every morning.

What if the stories we tell ourselves aren’t descriptions of who we are, but instructions for who to become?

“I’m not creative enough.” “I’m bad with money.” “I’m too sensitive.” “I always procrastinate.”

These declarations follow us like shadows, shaping our choices before we even realise we’re choosing.

Pay attention to the sentences that begin with “I am” or “I always” or “I never” in your inner dialogue. Notice how often you speak them, how automatically they arise.

Then pause and ask: Is this truth, or is this simply a story I’ve rehearsed so often that it feels like fact?

Sometimes the most profound transformation begins not with changing what we do, but with changing what we believe about what we’re capable of doing.

Our stories have power. We might as well make them good ones.
