What part of you is still waiting to be chosen — by you, not anyone else?
I’m sitting with this question at the moment, wondering what dreams, desires, or parts of myself I’ve left standing in the wings, waiting for permission I keep forgetting I can give.
So much of my conditioning has centred around needing to be chosen by others — needing validation from people who literally only know half the story of who I am and why I am the way I am.
Through trying to heal that conditioning, I’ve learned what it means to choose yourself. I’ve witnessed the beauty that blooms when I make space for myself. It’s transformative.
But every now and then, I lose sight of those insights and default back to feeling like it’s someone else’s job to declare me worthy.
What I’m discovering is that even in these moments of forgetting, the choice remains available. I can still return to myself.
Choosing yourself isn’t a loud declaration or a one-time decision. It’s a quiet, repeated commitment to come back to yourself, again and again, even when it feels hard, even when it feels unfamiliar.
Sometimes that choice looks like setting boundaries. Sometimes it looks like letting yourself rest without guilt. And sometimes it’s simply whispering, “You matter too,” when everything in the world is pulling you away from yourself.
The question isn’t whether you deserve to be chosen; you already do. The question is whether you’re ready to stop waiting and start choosing.
