Something lit up inside me today. It’s been a while since that happened, so I’m soaking it all up, holding on tightly so that it permeates other areas of my life.
That’s the thing about light: it erases the darkness and provides clarity in ways you don’t always expect.
What has me excited is something I’ve been wanting to pursue, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to move forward with it, wherever it may lead.
Yet at the same time, it’s essential to allow a moment of pause. When that spark within you is lit, pause before rushing in and acting on it. Because a crucial question forms in the stillness:
How do I do more of this? How can I create more opportunities for this light to shine freely in its purest form?
If we rush past this moment, we risk unintentionally blowing out the flame.
Think about lighting a match. Once struck, it needs a moment to fully catch. Even the slightest breeze can extinguish it before it takes hold. Now think about lighting a match in the wind. What’s the first thing we do? We create a barrier around it to protect those first crucial moments. We cup our hand over it or shift our body to block the wind.
This is what we must do with precious things—with the sparks that need a moment of protection before the world’s winds arrive.
Once that match is blazing, we light a candle, and the source of light transfers to something else, creating something that can sustain itself and illuminate far beyond where we first stood.
This is the power of honouring the spark: it doesn’t just burn—it multiplies, it spreads, it transforms into something that can light the way for others, and eventually, for parts of ourselves we didn’t even know needed illumination.
