Day 3

I saw this video with an incredibly powerful message. It said, ‘You don’t have to set yourself on fire to keep others warm’.

Damn, that hit hard.

Last year, setting myself on fire became second nature. It was the norm. The default. And if I didn’t… it meant intense guilt, fear and judgement.

I tried to figure out how and from where I learnt this behaviour. And I kept coming up short with an answer to that investigation. But, eventually, I realised it’s not about figuring out why I do it. It’s about finding a way to stop lighting that match. It’s about being self-aware and teaching myself a different way.

So, this is a reminder to myself that there are so many other ways people can get warm.
