Day 42

Sometimes, we make ourselves sad by doing this one avoidable thing.

We shame ourselves.

I know that I do this to myself often. For years, it happened subconsciously. But the moment I became aware of this pattern, I gained the power to stop it.

Now, when I fall into a cycle of shaming myself, I recognise that I’m choosing this state of being.

The power of shame is terrifying – whether inflicted by others or born within our own minds and hearts. It breeds a particular kind of sadness, one with depths that can become dangerous if we sink too far.

I know there are many factors that affect our mental health.

But if any part of you is internalising shame, know that it’s okay to let it go. It’s safe. In fact, it’s far safer than holding onto those invisible claws that snatch away our joy and purpose.
