Day 76

Saying ‘I love you’ to someone isn’t something I take lightly.

Those words don’t just carry meaning when spoken – they hold you accountable for your actions toward the person you’ve uttered them to.

“Love without action is irrelevant, while action without love is meaningless…” – Deepak Chopra

I’m learning that love existed for most of my life simply because it was expected to. Because that’s what family feels. I don’t take for granted that I was fortunate to hear this word often while growing up. Not everyone has that privilege.

But my understanding of love has evolved, and I can no longer accept hearing these words while simultaneously being hurt, controlled, or punished by the one who said them.

I no longer accept love that falls short of action. It’s irrelevant.

To the few important people I say ‘I love you’ to, know that I will do everything I can to hold myself accountable for those words and what I believe they truly mean.
