“The parts you hide are often the parts that hold your magic” – nomad_atelier
There are parts of myself that remain hidden, though I’ve only recently begun to recognise this.
I’m discovering aspects of myself that, for various reasons, aren’t ‘online’—they’re lingering at the back of the room with raised hands, holding answers to questions that circulate in my mind.
But I’m also learning that we can intentionally hold space for these hidden parts. We can comfort and bring them online, allowing less helpful parts to temporarily step back.
There is nothing inherently wrong with any piece of who we are. No part is fundamentally bad. They’re simply wrapped in untrue beliefs that need to be identified and unwound.
I recently came across one of Alok’s videos where they discuss loving one’s fear through a personal ritual. Alok dresses up their fear, and they walk out of the house together. They speak about our common impulse to banish fear the moment it appears. But radical inclusion means fear is identified, greeted, and acknowledged as an emotion with purpose.
This video resonated deeply because it illuminated why certain parts of myself remain hidden – they’re shrouded in fear.
Fear recedes only when I identify, personify, and love that particular part, allowing something more beautiful and magical to take the stage.
