I listened to some very hard words today. I didn’t just hear them as I was scrolling; I listened to them. They were uncomfortable but scarily poignant.
I recently came across Donavan Barrett‘s account and am low-key obsessed. His content is super powerful and relatable. This one particular video I saw today was exactly what I needed to hear.
Donavan shares how we don’t like what we must do to achieve success. In fact, we make countless excuses for why we aren’t successful, knowing full well that underneath those excuses lies someone who desperately wants it and is capable of getting it.
He goes on to say that achieving success isn’t just about hard workâthat’s actually only part of it. What’s truly needed is a rewiring of our brains. Because the world isn’t going to bend to the cards we’ve been dealt. We have to take our cards and make something out of them.
And here’s where Donavan got me good:
“The work is the work, and you already know what you have to do. You just have to decide whether you’re going to do it.”
He’s 100% right, and I need to do the work. I need to stop thinking it will happen somehow and actually decide to do it. I’ve already laid so many stepping stones. All I need to do now is explore the path.
The incredible thing about finding this video is that the comment section was filled with people who feel exactly the same way I do about this message. That in itself has shifted my perspective.
I’m not alone in feeling and struggling with this. There is nothing wrong with me. I know what to do next. Now I just need to do it.
