Day 361

It’s New Year’s Eve, and for the first time, the idea of 2026 feels close enough to touch. Not rushed. Not abstract. Just real.

Today is also day 361 of this writing series. Nearly a full year of showing up to the page. While my relationship with writing doesn’t end here, this particular promise I made to myself is nearing its final breaths. And that matters more to me than I expected it would.

I’m not at the finish line yet, but I can see it from here.

There’s a definite excitement for its ending—one that has transformed from wanting it to be done because I couldn’t keep going, to pure joy at completing something I started while remaining wholeheartedly committed to it every single day.

But there’s also something deeper stirring: a lingering identity shift. Who am I when I’m no longer “the person doing this every day”? Who am I when writing becomes something I discover differently, outside the structure of daily practice?

Who am I when I’m not processing through words as frequently as I have been this year?

I’m curious about all the answers to these questions. But I’m also in no rush to meet her just yet.

I don’t need to be at day 365 today.

Tonight is enough. The year is closing. The work is nearly complete.

And for once, I’m letting myself stand right here—in the threshold between who I’ve been and who I’m becoming. Proud of the consistency. Present to this moment. Still unfolding.

This is what it means to honor both the ending and what comes after: to celebrate the discipline without clinging to it, to recognise the transformation without demanding its immediate clarity.

Four more days. Four more promises kept. And then, a new kind of beginning.
